Loraine Rose George, 96

Loraine R. George, 96, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away July 26, 2026, at Northeast Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko, Nev. 

At the time of her passing, she was living with her daughter, Wanda, and Ken DeJournett in Spring Creek, Nev.

Loraine was the daughter of Edward and Rose Shere, and was born in Underwood, N.D., on Oct. 30, 1929. She moved to North Idaho at age 18, where she met her future husband, Glen H. George. They married Feb. 18, 1950, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They moved to the Silver Valley, where Glen was an employee of Sunshine Mining Company. They made their home in Wallace, where they raised their family, including three boys and one girl.

Loraine worked a couple of different jobs, first in the laundry department at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Later, she worked in the bakery department in the Food Liner Grocery Store. 

In the early years, she enjoyed Square Dancing with Glen and later bowling and softball. She also loved camping and gardening, and after retiring, she loved playing golf and traveling with her husband of 58 years. She was involved in several ladies’ groups and exercise classes. But most of all, she loved her church family. She enjoyed participating in church functions, including potlucks and making quilts with the Ladies group. She will be missed by so many of her family and friends.

She loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and she loved spending time with them and watching them grow into adulthood and develop their own personalities. She will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, and two sons: Richard and Paul. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Wanda and Kenneth DeJournett of Spring Creek, Nev., and her son and wife, Jimmy and Valerie George of Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren: Ken Paul DeJournett, LaNae Cronk, Tiffany Young and Justine Morgan; plus twelve great-grandchildren: Jayce, Syriah, Lillian, Brenden Kye, Alexiah, Aurora, Alyeska, Aialik, Joseph, Titus, Waylon, Alana.

At her request, cremation was held, and the urn will be interred next to her son, Paul, and husband Glen at Day Cemetery in Osburn. Some of her ashes will be spread at Bloom Peak later next year.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at the Wallace Church of God at 11 a.m., followed by a short graveside time of reflection and benedictory prayer at Day Cemetery. A potluck lunch will be held at the church following the service.
