SANDPOINT — An 8 a.m. early start was no problem for the Sandpoint High Bulldogs girls soccer team as it dominated Post Falls, 6-1, on Saturday morning at War Memorial Field.

The Trojans jumped out to the early lead in the 17th minute but wouldn’t find the back of the net again against the Bulldogs. Sandpoint put relentless pressure on Post Falls, scoring three goals in the last 20 minutes of the first half. 

“I was extremely happy that we battled back and did not play with our heads down after getting scored on,” head coach Alan Brinkmeier said. “They are finding their confidence.” 

Fresh off a hat trick against Bonners Ferry, Aleeya Anaya led the Bulldogs in scoring yet again with two goals against the Trojans. Senior Bayah Ratigan, Hadley Chartey and Ella Lett also contributed goals in Sandpoint’s victory over Post Falls. 

The Bulldogs get a bit of a break before their next game against Lakeland on Thursday, Sept. 3. Sandpoint will travel to Lakeland for that game, which is set to start at 4 p.m. 

“These conference games are really important to get results,” Brinkmeier said.
