Cathy Kirby, 85

In Loving Memory of Cathy Gene Kirby, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passed away Aug.20, 2026, in Boise, Idaho. She was born March 14, 1941, in Pasadena, Calif.

Cathy graduated from La Habra High School in 1959. Soon afterward, she began her military service in Colorado Springs, Colo., entering the Air Force on Aug. 17, 1959. She served her country with dedication until her honorable discharge June 21, 1962, attaining the rank of Airman Second Class (A2C/E-3). Her service reflected the strength, commitment and perseverance that were part of who she was. Her strong work ethic and caring spirit defined much of her life. She worked at McDonnell Douglas, contributing to the construction of Skylab, and later followed her love of children by establishing her own successful daycare business, where she nurtured and cared for countless young lives.

In March 1974, Cathy married Robert Kirby. Together, they shared a life and built a home centered on family. Their marriage was an important part of Cathy’s story, and the home they created became a place where love, care, and family memories could grow.

Cathy found happiness in caring for the things and people she loved. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home, giving her time and attention to creating a welcoming place for her family. Yet, more than anything else, her family was the center of her life. She was a devoted mother to Mark and Michele, and she treasured her role as a grandmother to Matthew, Michael, Megan, and Amanda.

Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Kirby; her parents, Frank Williams and Eleanor Strong; and her sister, Doreen Williams. She is survived by her sister, Donna Williams; her children: son Mark and his wife, Christine, and daughter Michele; her grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Megan, and Amanda; and her great-granddaughter, Eisley.

Cathy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though her absence will be felt in the family she cared for, her memory will remain alive in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Love, devotion, strength and family defined her life, and that love will continue to live on through the generations.
