Talk about great beginnings.
Coach Taylor Salmi and her Lady Savage Heat got off to a raucous season start with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 win over visiting Victor in Hot Springs Saturday.
Salmi said the Heat’s net energy was cooking on high against the Pirates.
“It was a great match, we are super excited,” Salmi said. “We were missing a starter but still kept the energy up. We controlled the action at the net and were able to get some of our younger kids in for some valuable experience.”
Salmi pointed to Lanet Jakabosky and Hollis Key as the leaders in the win over Victgor. The Heat frontliners pounded down eight kills apiece and blocked three shots each to lead Hot Springs. Mackenzie Johnson hit four service aces and 14 set assists to lead the Heat in those categories.
The Heat totaled nine aces, 24 kills, 20 assists, eight blocks and eight digs in the match.
The Heat have another home match this week in their only scheduled action, hosting St. Regis Thursday.
