Hornung drives in 11 as Range Riders win 12th straight

OGDEN — Carson Hornung blasted three home runs and drove in 11 runs as the Glacier Range Riders erupted early and defeated the Ogden Raptors 22-6 in Pioneer League baseball Tuesday night.
Glacier (50-41, 21-22 in the second half) scored four runs in the first inning to take control of their 12th straight win. Carson Garner scored the first run with a sacrifice fly before Hornung doubled home two. Tommy Rover followed with an RBI single.
The Range Riders poured on nine more runs in the second. Brock Vradenburg drove in a run before Hornung launched a grand slam. Rover added another RBI single and Logan Beard belted a three-run homer to make it 13-0.
Ogden (19-24, 48-43) got on the board in the second on Tyler Stone’s RBI groundout. Chase Valentine doubled home another run in the third before Giuseppe Ferraro-Nahr homered in the fourth.
Rover homered in the fourth before Hornung struck again with a three-run shot in the fifth, extending Glacier’s lead to 17-4.
Jake Millan added his own homer, his team-leading 19th, in the eighth before Hornung capped his monster night with a two-run blast in the ninth. Hornung finished 4-for-6.
Zach Longshore allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings for Glacier.
The six-game series continues Wednesday.
