Lana Kay Hanson, 81, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home in Sagle, Idaho.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel with Jim Kubiak officiating. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Then there will be a celebration to follow at the Elks Club.
Lana Kay was born on July 11, 1945, in Newport, Wash., the daughter of Charles and Nonna Sommerfeld. She attended local schools and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1963.
In 1964, Lana Kay became a licensed real estate agent and went to work for the family business. What began as a young woman entering the family business became a remarkable career spanning more than 60 years. She earned the distinguished status of Realtor Emeritus and became a respected and well-known figure in the local real estate industry.
Lana Kay married Frank Linscott in 1964 and together they had twin sons, Mark and Matthew. She later married Harley Hanson, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage and life together.
Lana Kay loved hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors, but family was always the most important part of her life. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved being surrounded by them.
She was constantly on the go and had an incredible love of music. Playing music with her boys was one of the great joys of her life. Her taste crossed generations and genres, and she loved attending concerts — from KISS and George Strait to sitting in front row for Lady Gaga in Las Vegas. At concerts, Lana Kay was like a kid again. More than once, her family would realize she had disappeared, only to find her up front, singing and screaming at the top of her lungs and having the time of her life.
Lana Kay is survived by her two sons, Matthew (Casey) Linscott of Sagle, Idaho, and Mark (Victoria) Linscott of Sagle, Idaho; her six grandchildren, Brissa (Dan) Peterson, Brianna (Chris) Williams, Mark Linscott II, Janae (Derrick) Peterson, Zachary Linscott and LaCheale (Jake) Finley; along with six great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Harley Hanson; her parents, Charles and Nonna Sommerfeld; her brother, Norman Sommerfeld; and her sister, Delores Roberson.
