SANDPOINT — Local firefighters will be hosting a "Fill the Boot" fundraiser Friday, Sept. 4 at Sandpoint Super 1 Foods.
The campaign, which benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association campaign, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"Firefighters will be outside the store collecting donations from generous members of our community," said Selkirk Fire Capt. Nick Krom. "Every contribution, large or small, helps support individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases."
For decades, Krom said firefighters across the country have partnered with the MDA to help raise funds and awareness for families living with neuromuscular disease. Donations collected through Fill the Boot help the MDA provide care, support, advocacy, education and research aimed at improving the lives of children and adults living with these conditions.
"Your donation can help the MDA continue its work toward treatments and cures while providing vital resources to families who need them," Krom said.
Whether you drop a few dollars in the boot or make a larger contribution, local firefighters said that generosity directly supports the MDA and the local families they serve.
"Come help us fill the boot and make a difference," Krom said.
