Priest River 7, Orofino 0 

PRIEST RIVER — It had been over two years since the Priest River Lamanna High girls soccer team found themselves on the winning end of a match. 

Thanks to a four-goal day from Macie Olmo, that streak mercifully came to a close on Monday. The Spartans thrashed the Orofino Maniacs 7-0 in the team’s opener, setting a positive tone for a group that calls themselves the “comeback team.” 

Olmo, a senior, notched a team-leading 11 shots on goal in Priest River’s victory. The senior’s hallmark day was supported by a brace from senior Lilly Kennedy, who scored her two goals off seven shots on goal. One of Kennedy’s goals came off a penalty kick she drew. 

While sophomore Rachel Roberts didn’t find the back of the net, she also added seven shots on goal while fellow sophomore Jasmine Zylstra added two shots on goal as well. The Priest River offensive explosion included a goal from freshman Heidi Burress.  

Zylstra and junior Aleigha Razo split time between the posts, totaling a clean sheet and five saves in total. Razo blocked three shots, while Zylstra stopped two shots in the team’s opener. 

Timberlake 6, Priest River 0 

PRIEST RIVER — An early four-goal outburst from Timberlake sealed Priest River’s fate in a league game on Thursday night.  

Sophomore Rachel Roberts led Priest River with three shots on goal, while freshman Heidi Burress, seniors Macie Olmo and Lilly Kennedy all contributed one shot on goal.  Timberlake junior Naomi Beuving scored a hat trick, sophomore Lillee Ward scored two goals and junior Paisley Fenton scored a goal to push the Tigers past the Spartans. 

Priest River fell to 1-1 in the season with the loss. 

Coeur d’Alene Charter 11, Priest River 1 

PRIEST RIVER — The Spartans couldn’t contain 4A powerhouse Coeur d’Alene Charter Panthers’ offense on Friday, allowing nine first-half goals in their 11-1 loss. 

Junior Aleigha Razo scored the lone goal for Priest River on her only shot of the day in the second half but that wasn’t the only offense the Spartans mustered. Sophomore Rachel Roberts once again battled and put four shots on goal. Freshman Heidi Burress and senior Lilly Kennedy both took three shots on goal each. 

Priest River goalkeeper sophomore Jasmine Zylstra added two saves to the scoresheet. The Panthers were led by sophomore Riley Green, who scored a hat trick and added an assist.  

Bonners Ferry 7, Priest River 3 

BONNERS FERRY — Priest River sophomore Rachel Roberts finally found the back of the net, but the Spartans were once again overwhelmed early, this time by Bonners Ferry on Monday. 

Roberts scored her first goal of the season and added an assist against the Badgers. The Spartans got another goal from freshman Heidi Burress and another Priest River player as their offense found its footing. 

However, the three goals for Priest River couldn’t match Bonners Ferry’s seven first-half goals. With the loss, the Spartans fell to 1-3 in the season. Priest River has another chance to get back on the right track against St. Maries on Thursday at 2 p.m. 

BOYS 

Timberlake 10, Priest River 3 

PRIEST RIVER — In their first game in over a year, the Priest River boys soccer team battled and made some highlight plays against Timberlake. 

Senior Daryan Haidari led the way for the Spartans with a brace and an assist. Haidari assisted Priest River’s other goal, which was scored by fellow senior Gunnar Pettit. Priest River also saw contributions from junior Jayden Sams, who took three shots on goal. 

Between the posts, junior Ryker Pettit recorded 11 saves for the Spartans while freshman Jake Bushman totaled six saves in the team’s opening loss. 

Coeur d’Alene Charter 9, Priest River 0 

PRIEST RIVER — Coeur d’Alene Charter jumped out to an early lead to lift themselves past Priest River on Friday. 

Senior Daryan Haidari and junior Jayden Sams were once again the engines for the Spartans' offense, with both taking two shots against the Panthers. Junior Ryker Pettit totaled four saves in the match as the Spartans fell to 0-2. 

Bonners Ferry 8, Priest River 0 

BONNERS FERRY — Daryan Haidari took eight shots as the Priest River Lamanna Spartans fell to the Bonners Ferry Badgers on Monday. 

Senior Gunnar Pettit supported Haidari with four shots as the Spartans failed to score for the second game in a row. Ryker Pettit notched another 12 saves while Jake Bushman added three more against Bonners Ferry. 

Priest River will look to get in the win column for the first time against St. Maries on Thursday. That game will be in St. Maries and is set to begin at 5 p.m.
