Sandpoint 3, Bonners Ferry 0 

BONNERS FERRY — A dominant day from senior Marlee Lane pushed the Sandpoint Bulldogs past the Bonners Ferry Badgers (25-15, 29-27, 25-23) in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon. 

Lane led the Bulldogs with 11 kills, 10 of which came in the third and final set to help Sandpoint secure the sweep. The Bulldogs’ lone senior also recorded three blocks and two aces with no errors. 

“I can’t remember a game I’ve coached where one player had that big of an impact,” Sandpoint head coach Karen Alsager said. “What a beast!” 

In addition to Lane’s two aces, junior Breecyn Morton totaled two aces. Sophomore Hailey Goin led the team with 13 digs, and sophomore Averi Mire had another spectacular game as setter, posting 28 set assists. 

Bonners Ferry was led by seniors Taron Bateman and Eva Willis, who combined for 18 kills. Bateman served up four aces and two blocks against the Bulldogs. Samantha Cummings led the Badgers with eight digs. 

With the victory, Sandpoint moved to 2-3 on the season, while Bonners Ferry fell to 3-2. 

Sandpoint 3, Moscow 0 

SANDPOINT — Lane once again propelled her Bulldogs to a victory on Monday afternoon, this time against the Moscow Bears at Les Rogers Court. 

Sandpoint cruised past Moscow in three sets (25-14, 25-12, 25-16) in the 5A Inland Empire showdown thanks to a team-leading eight kills from sophomore Darby Rust and seven kills from Lane.  

In addition to her seven kills, Lane led the team with two blocks and totaled a .600 hitting efficiency. 

“Marlee continues to be in “beast mode,” just such a force at the net,” Sandpoint head coach Karen Alsager said. “[I] love her confidence and her passion on the court. Truly having a fantastic senior year.” 

An early star of the season, Rust was no slouch either, serving up seven aces and leading the team with nine digs. Averi Mire followed Rust with eight digs and another 18 assists against the Bears. 

After making it through the hectic start to the season, the Bulldogs find themselves even at 3-3. Sandpoint’s next game is a rematch with the Coeur d’Alene Vikings, who swept the Bulldogs on Aug. 27, in Coeur d’Alene at 7 p.m. 

Priest River 3, Wallace 0 

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna Spartans cleaned out the Wallace Miners in a non-league game in three sets (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) on Saturday to improve to 2-1. 

The Spartans were led by senior Raygn Turner, who racked up 14 kills and a .346 hitting efficiency. Turner was backed up by another strong outing from junior McKinley Burgess-Duquette, who totaled 11 kills and led the team with 19 assists and five aces against the Miners. 

Senior Callie Stanger recorded a team-leading 19 digs while junior Courtney Whitaker contributed 12 digs. Freshman Ava Griesemer posted a team-high three blocks against Wallace.  

The Spartans played a game against Bonners Ferry on Wednesday evening, but the game was not finished by the Bee’s deadline. A full recap will appear in Thursday’s paper.
