COEUR d'ALENE — Some of the best Christmas stories are the ones that have been passed down, retold around the dinner table and remembered for decades. This year, The Shotwell Family wants to bring some of those memories to the stage.

The annual Coeur d’Alene Christmas Show, starring The Shotwell Family, including Cannes Film Festival star Clark Shotwell, is preparing for this year’s production, My Favorite Things — and they’re asking the community to be part of it.

The family is specifically looking for personal stories and memories of Christmas in Coeur d’Alene from 1960 through 1965. What was Coeur d’Alene like at Christmas in the early 1960s? Do you have a favorite story about downtown, local traditions, family celebrations or special moments tied to the community? Maybe you had a special visit with Santa or a favorite toy during a special family tradition, or perhaps a memorable musical experience or community lighting ceremony. Whatever the story, the heart of each submission should be a memory rooted in Christmas in Coeur d’Alene during those early-1960s years.

Selected stories will be shared during this year’s show, giving local memories a special place on stage. Those whose stories are chosen will also receive two complimentary tickets to a performance of their choice.

Stories will be accepted through September 19 and can be submitted by email, mail or in person at The Coeur d’Alene Resort concierge desk.

Email submissions should be sent to [email protected]. Mail submissions should be sent to: The Christmas Show (ATTN: Jenny Shotwell), PO Box 7200, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814.

The Shotwell Family looks forward to welcoming audiences back for another Christmas season and, this year, celebrating the people, places and memories that are part of Coeur d’Alene’s own holiday story.
