Opinion: Left behind by the Democratic Party

I have lived in Montana for most of my 82 years and the changes in this state and nation have been profound to say the least.

I began my adult life as a Democrat with my parents having avowed faith in that party, primarily due to their belief that FDR "saved" the nation from the Depression.

My first involvement in politics was for the campaign for JFK and I felt great pride and belief in his statement: "Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country." I felt compelled to follow that challenge.

After college I worked for the National Security Agency and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967. In those years it didn't seem there were that many basic differences in which party was in charge of the nation for life's objective of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

In the last few years we have biological males identifying themselves as female and vice versa. We have had a President and party of Democrats that virtually wiped out our borders.

From just those two nonsensical ideas and activities, we have found biological men taking honors away from female athletes (tossing Title IX in the waste bin). We have basically obliterated the meaning of the "melting pot" that made our nation so strong and the envy of the world.

Instead it has created a nation that is weakening with enclaves of multi-nationals that are here to feed off the fruits of what was and in fact denigrate what has been our strengths.

In the past, we were the only nation that when you came here legally from another country and assimilated you were an American! You can emigrate to France, for instance, and you do not become French.

We, for political reasons, have become a nation of "groups" of victims that the Democrat party plays politics with to maintain power.

By the way, my basic principals have not changed but I call myself a Republican because the Democratic party left me with no other option.
