Congratulations and a big thank you to all the officers and board members who were elected to serve the Polson Senior Center as leaders. A special thank you to all the volunteers who keep this place humming!

Next week, look forward to reading a summary of the fiscal year and the list of leaders and volunteers.

Our parking lot has received a sealcoat and fresh paint. Street parking is available on the West and North sides as well.

The center is closed Labor Day, Sept. 7. Celebrate the workers who built America and continue to make it great.

Our membership campaign is underway! Membership (a bargain at $15) is required for all those attending activities on a regular basis. Participation in our Nutrition Program does not require membership status.

Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5 donation; $10 without a completed MASTS form). Milk is available with all meals; delivery service is available for those who meet our guidelines.

Main dishes include Alice’s Casserole, Sept. 3; turkey-ham wraps, Sept. 4; closed, Sept. 7; chicken a la king, Sept. 8’ oven-baked beef stew, Sept. 9; pork loin with noodles, gravy and cherry dump cake (it’s the pits!) Sept. 10; and meatloaf and baked spuds for Patriot Day, Sept. 11.

Wednesdays have been reserved for Game Day! Invite friends for a variety of board and card games.

Other activities at the air-conditioned Polson Senior Center include bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and card bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Monday, no pass, and Thursdays, pass four (new and old players welcome); pool table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; mahjong and bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); and exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the veterans service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month (walk-ins welcome).

Our Polson Senior Citizens community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings. We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.
