Farmer, Watson lead Logger harriers at Libby Invitational

Libby’s Capri Farmer and Cody Watson turned in top-12 finishes Saturday as the Loggers hosted a deep field of Montana and Idaho programs at the Libby Invitational cross country meet.

Farmer highlighted the day for the Lady Loggers with a fourth-place finish in the girls race, crossing the line in 18 minutes, 24.66 seconds.

Polson’s Morgan Delaney won the individual title in 17:23.64, while Glacier’s Lauren Bissen placed second in 17:40.16 and Polson’s Quinn Delaney was third in 18:14.86.

Farmer’s performance helped Libby finish seventh in the girls team standings with 168 points. Juniors Alli Clemons and Hailey Misner gave Libby three runners in the top 41.

Coeur d’Alene claimed the girls team championship with 64 points, edging Sandpoint, Idaho, which finished with 71. Polson was the top Montana team in third with 90 points.

On the boys side, Watson led Libby with a 12th-place finish against a field that included several of the top runners from Montana and northern Idaho.

Watson completed the course in 16:08.40, finishing less than 37 seconds behind individual champion Kai Budensiek of Sandpoint. Libby finished seventh in the boys team standings with 230 points. Junior Jake Rusdal was 47th and Micah Peterson was 51st.

Coeur d’Alene captured the boys team title with 47 points, while Sandpoint was second with 61 and Timberlake finished third with 89. Flathead placed fourth with 110 points and Glacier rounded out the top five with 126.

Fourteen schools from Montana and Idaho competed at the meet, with Coeur d’Alene sweeping the boys and girls team championships.
