SANDPOINT — The community is invited to join the Sandpoint Veterans of Foreign Wars at a special presentation as it remembers America’s prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

Set for Sept. 18, the event commemorates POW/MIA Day. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and will be held at the VFW post, 1325 Pine St.

Speaking will be former VFW commander Ken Hunt, whose father is among those missing in action.

"With over 80,000 American service members still unaccounted for from all past conflicts, the Sandpoint VFW remains steadfast in the sacred promise to never forget their sacrifice," said John Stoddard, junior vice commander for VFW Post 2453.

All veterans, families and community members are invited to join the VFW post and area veterans.

"All are welcome to join us to pay our respects and stand in solidarity with the families who still wait, and ensure their devotion is always remembered," Stoddard said.
