CLARK FORK — Another terrific night from the service line allowed the Clark Fork Wampus Cats to sweep Valor Christian in three sets (25-12, 25-11, 25-9) on Friday night. 

Freshman Gemma Wood had a spectacular night from that line, going 23 of 25 with a whopping 18 aces for the Wampus Cats. Fellow freshman Grace Thompson added five aces while freshman Molly Adams and sophomore Vanessa Rogier had four aces each. 

Clark Fork head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said Wood has found a rhythm with her jump float serve, and it’s led to success all season long. 

“It's making her teammates better passers in practice and has forced countless timeouts during our first handful of matches this season,” Kiebert-Carey said of Wood’s serves. 

Clark Fork was down their lone senior, Nora-Jean Hoy, and moved Thompson to middle to fill the gap. Freshman Avery Aumick stepped up to fill Thompson’s role on the outside and totaled seven kills on nine attempts. 

“Her efficiency and reliability are really invaluable,” Kiebert-Carey said of Aumick. 

In addition to her four aces, Rogier added seven kills with only one error to help her team advance to 6-0.  

The Wampus Cats will take that undefeated record into another home matchup against Kootenai Classical Academy on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. That game will be at the Clark Fork Jr./Sr. High gym and will have a blackout theme, so fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Wampus Cats.
