Clark Fork 3, Genesis Prep 0 

CLARK FORK — Sophomore Kiylah Anderson dominated from the serving line to move the Clark Fork Wampus Cats past Genesis Prep in three sets (25-14, 25-8, 25-11) and extended their winning streak to five games. 

Anderson totaled 10 assists and a whopping 15 service aces, but wasn’t the only Wampus Cat getting in on the action. Freshman Kourtney Rogier and Grace Thompson both added five aces each, bringing the team total to 25 against the Jaguars. Thompson also led Clark Fork with six kills on nine attempts. 

“The impressive thing about Grace through our first few matches is her focus,” Clark Fork head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. “She is pushing herself to give maximum effort on both sides of the ball, and it's making our whole team better.” 

Kiebert-Carey commended the team’s 88% serve receive passing, adding that the mark shows elite discipline from the Wampus Cats’ back row.  

Now 5-0, Clark Fork played host to Valor Christian of Sandpoint on Friday night, but the game did not end in time for the Bee’s deadline. A full recap of that game will appear online on Saturday and in the Tuesday print edition. 

The Wampus Cats’ next game is scheduled for Sept. 8 for a home rematch with league opponent Kootenai Classical Academy, who Clark Fork battled past in their second game of the year. 

Coeur d’Alene 3, Sandpoint 1 

COEUR D’ALENE — In a rematch with Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint battled but couldn’t find their way past the 6A Vikings, falling in four sets (16-25, 26-24, 18-25, 20-25) on Thursday night. 

Junior captain Carlee Klippel stepped up to lead the Bulldogs against the Vikings, totaling 11 kills and two blocks.  

“Was a fun match; happy to see Carlee contributing good numbers and being a force at the net,” Sandpoint head coach Karen Alsager said. 

Senior Marlee Lane continued her hot streak at the net, leading Sandpoint with four blocks. Sophomore Hailey Gion totaled a team-high 14 digs, while fellow sophomore Averi Mire led the team with 17 set assists. 

Junior Breecyn Morton stuffed the stat sheet with three service aces and 14 set assists. Alsager said Morton added a great spark for the Bulldogs and served strong. 

The Bulldogs fall to 3-4 on the season with the loss and will look to regroup on Tuesday night against the Lake City Timberwolves. That rematch is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Sandpoint High Gym.
