PROP 1: Vote no on Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act

Idaho voters have an important decision ahead regarding Proposition 1, the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act. I urge Idahoans to vote No.

I believe every human life has value, including unborn children, and that protecting vulnerable life is an important responsibility of our society. At the same time, women facing unexpected or difficult pregnancies deserve compassion, respect, quality medical care and meaningful support.

Supporting women does not require supporting abortion. Idaho can do better by expanding resources for pregnant women and families, including prenatal care, adoption services, child care, financial assistance and community-based pregnancy support. No woman should feel that abortion is her only option because she lacks support.

Proposition 1 would establish a statutory right to abortion before fetal viability and would significantly change Idaho’s current approach to abortion regulation. I believe these decisions deserve careful consideration and Idaho should continue to value both women and unborn children.

We should work toward a culture that welcomes children, supports mothers, strengthens families and provides practical help when circumstances are difficult. Compassion should not require us to abandon the unborn.

Our laws should reflect the belief that every life matters and that no woman should have to face a difficult pregnancy without support.

For these reasons, I encourage my fellow Idahoans to learn what Proposition 1 would do, consider its long-term consequences and vote No on Proposition 1.
