Bonners Ferry star Bateman signs with LC State women's basketball

LEWISTON — Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball added to its 2027 signing class this week with the addition of Bonners Ferry High senior Taren Bateman.

She joins June Fiander, Makenna Klitzke and Elise Kingston in the group of new Warriors headed to Lewiston next fall for the 2027-28 season.

“We are so excited that Taren is joining our Warrior team,” LC State coach Caelyn Orlandi said. “She is going to be the perfect addition. Her basketball skill set, academic strengths and who she is embody all it means to be a Warrior.”

Last season, Bateman averaged 21.2 points per game for the Badgers, and has averaged 19 points per game for her high school career. She has earned Intermountain League MVP honors along with all-league and all-Idaho accolades.

“Taren has a skill set that embodies characteristics of multiple past Warrior greats,” Orlandi said. “Her athleticism, strength, pull up jump shot and competitive drive are just some of the strengths she is going to bring to the court for us. She is going to be extremely difficult to guard, and I know that she is going to be so fun to watch. Taren works incredibly hard, she loves the game and is going to be a great addition to our Warrior family.”

Bateman also competes in track and field and volleyball at Bonners. She helped the Badgers qualify for state in volleyball and competed in the long jump and sprint medley relay at the state track and field meet.

“Taren played on the top Meta hoops AAU travel team this spring and summer and competed against top competition all AAU season from all over the country," Orlandi said. "She makes an immediate impact when she is on the court and I look forward to when she gets to be in a Warrior uniform."
