The law roundup is compiled from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office incident log from Aug. 16 to Aug. 21. It is not meant to serve as an exhaustive account.

Aug. 16

An ambulance was called for an older woman who fell at a Libby residence. Fortunately, she did not need transported.

An elderly male with trouble breathing at a residence outside of Libby resulted in two ambulances responding. CPR was administered and the man was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

A county deputy responded to a local house of worship after a report of a man making a scene during a church service. He left in an older red Jeep.

A 14-year-old with a severe leg injury, possibly broken, was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center by Libby Volunteer Ambulance from Upper Ford Road. A Montana Highway Patrol officer also assisted. A check with two air ambulances determined the ambulance transport was the fastest method providing care.

Some hikers found smoldering fires near Fortine and worked to put them out. U.S. Forest Service personnel determined the fires were the result of lightning strikes and were extinguished.

A report of an elderly woman walking on Kootenai River Road resulted in her transport to the hsopital for an involuntary hold. When a concerned citizen tried to speak to the woman, she said she didn't want to stay in her home due to the people in her house.

A Libby resident called to report underage juveniles taking inappropriate photos of her son. An officer spoke to the woman.

Ambulance crews from Bull Lake and Troy responded to a call about an 87-year-old woman having trouble breathing. She was taken to the hospital.

A man called to report his wheelchair-bound wife refused to go to the hospital despite her being in a weak condition, not eating and vomiting when she does. She was transported to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance.

A county deputy and a highway patrol officer teamed up to take a fugitive from Florida into custody after an arrest near Eureka on U.S. 93. The deputy drove the wanted man halfway to Libby and the trooper finished the trip to the county jail.

An older Libby man was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance after he fell.

A dispute between campers on Horseshoe Lake near Happy's Inn was eventually resolved when a man apologized for another man's actions.

A 35-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance after she experienced chest paints.

Aug. 17

A store employee called to report a young woman shoplifting at the Town Pump in Troy. The employee was told law enforcement would get a report in the morning.

A man battling advanced cancer was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance after an early-morning call.

A 60-year-old man with extreme back pain was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance.

A deputy responded following a report of two large dogs killing chickens somewhere in Libby. The dogs were not found.

An 82-year-old man experiencing extreme bank pain was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance.

Someone called to say a neighbor was putting road speed signs and speed bumps on Pine Bay Drive in Rexford. A deputy responded.

A Eureka Volunteer Ambulance crew responded to a residence where a 71-year-old man was having trouble breathing, but no transport was necessary.

Aug. 18

Libby Volunteer Ambulance transported an 82-year-old man who was having trouble breathing to the hospital.

A 74-year-old man with extreme pain in his shoulder, neck and back was taken to the hospital by Libby Volunteer Ambulance.

Two dogs were taken to the county animal shelter by a deputy after reportedly attacking a man who was taking a walk on Minnesota Avenue in Libby. 

Aug. 20

A call was made to warn the neighboring county of cattle on U.S. 2 as it got dark.

Aug. 21

A store employee requested an officer to help trespass a woman who was staying at the city campground. Each morning she apparently made a habit of stealing coffee and donuts.

A caller said a white Subaru Forester was driving erratically and nearly caused a head-on wreck. With no law enforcement available, dispatch alerted Idaho authorities. A little more than an hour later, local dispatch received word that Idaho State Patrol had stopped the vehicle.

Libby Volunteer Ambulance was called to a Libby residence for an elderly man who was experiencing a panic attack. He hadn't eaten or drank in several days and was throwing up. He was later taken to the hospital.

A caller said a marauding bear was in the neighborhood on Norman Ave. The dispatcher said she would relay the message to the game warden.
