Law roundup: Man loses sleep over noise

An unsound sleeper called the Kalispell Police Department to complain about being harassed by loud vehicles driving by, saying the noise kept him from fully falling asleep. Officers drove through the area and did not see or hear any loud vehicles or people.  

A woman alleged that $580,000 had been removed from a retirement account in her husband’s name. 

The mall property manager wanted officers to move along a group of six to seven people reportedly living in the area around the north side of Parkline Trail. They were advised that the group was neither on mall or trail property but on property owned by an out-of-state limited liability company with no known working phone number.  

Someone called the police to report that their peace and quiet was being disturbed by an upstairs neighbor’s hammering and drilling. They were told to contact their property manager.  

A gold Toyota reportedly rolled from its parking space into two parked cars. The driver was ticketed for not having proof of insurance and was advised of his warrants. Officers spoke to the two registered owners who said the parking brake was faulty.  

A 5-year-old reportedly fell off a swing under the supervision of a man and woman whose speech was slurred, prompting concerns that they had been driving under the influence.  

Security staff told officers that a man reportedly urinated in public in front of a 15-year-old.  

A man wanted to press charges against his landlord for purportedly not following procedures and wanted an officer to respond to the scene. When advised that officers were busy and would get in touch when available, he hung up after saying, “It will change when I put hands on them.”   

People reportedly kept dumping mattresses in an alley, impeding traffic.  

A caller followed up with the police about a neighborhood canine high-jump team that reportedly cleared the fence again and were running amok. The woman had come home to find trash all over her yard.  

A leashed pit bull allegedly bit a boy at a bus stop, which his father found out about when his child’s school called after noticing the bite, which didn’t seem to have broken the skin but left bruising. The father reportedly told police that the bite was unprovoked, while the dog owner claimed the boy approached their 2-year-old dog without permission and it turned around and reacted by biting. The dog also reportedly wasn’t up to date on its rabies vaccination and would have to be quarantined. Police said they would update the parent on the dog’s health status.
