Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation holds fall pie social

The Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation invites the community to gather for its annual fall pie social, “Oh My Pie!”, on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the historic Mountain Brook Community Center, located at 2353 Foothill Road.
The evening will feature homemade pies and ice cream, pulled pork and nachos, live music by the Swan Range Jammers, and the annual quilt raffle. Most importantly, the Pie Social offers an opportunity for friends, neighbors and newcomers to gather and enjoy one of Mountain Brook’s longest-running community traditions.
This year, visitors will also have an opportunity to get a glimpse of what may be ahead for the historic Mountain Brook Community Center.
The foundation is currently working with Cushing Terrell on a preliminary architectural report evaluating the community center and exploring possibilities for its future. The planning effort, funded in part through a grant from the Montana Department of Commerce, has included building assessments and community input gathered throughout the summer.
Members of the Cushing Terrell team will be at the Pie Social to share early concepts emerging from that work and give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the planning process and possibilities being considered for the community center.
“We get to celebrate a tradition that has brought neighbors together for generations while also inviting the community to help us imagine what this special place can become in the years ahead," said Jeff Knight, president of the Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation.
The Mountain Brook Community Center, including the historic 1922 Mountain Brook Schoolhouse, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in March 2026. The school served generations of area families before closing in 1995, and the community center continues to serve as a gathering place for the surrounding community today.
Proceeds from the Fall Pie Social support the Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation and its mission to preserve the area’s history, care for the historic community center and strengthen community connections for generations to come.
