COEUR d’ALENE — Leave it to some rivals to mess up each other’s plans on the first day of school on Tuesday.

Lake City senior Riley Brazle had a goal and an assist in the second half for the Timberwolves in a 2-0 win over the Coeur d’Alene Vikings in a 6A Inland Empire League match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex at Lake City High.

“The first 30 minutes, we controlled a lot of the game, but just couldn’t find the back of the net,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “Coeur d’Alene played hard in the first half and we just couldn’t get it into the back of the net. In the second half, we found more spaces to get the ball in. We had some opportunities, but need to be more efficient in finding the back of the net. Coeur d’Alene is built really well to cause us some problems. We need to take better chances with our opportunities and we did not do that well today.”

Coeur d’Alene freshman Maddie Oliver had 14 saves.
