Richard "Dick" Brostrom passed away peacefully Aug. 30, 2026. Dick longed to join his wife of almost 72 years after her passing last December. He was most proud of his family and his military service with the United States Air Force, where he served as a military police officer.

Dick was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Stillwater, Minn., to his parents, Anton and Adelaide Brostrom. He had two brothers, Robert and William, and one sister, Joan. Dick and his family moved from Stillwater to Menlo Park, Calif., in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force.

In 1954, Dick married the love of his life, Darlene, and they raised two sons, Jeffrey and David. Dick and Darlene moved to Idaho in 1992 and spent their retirement years living in Coeur d'Alene, where they enjoyed summers boating on the lake and spending time with family. "Dick & Dar" will be greatly missed by their family, but they are finally together again for all eternity!

Dick is survived by his sister, Joan Sindiong; sons Jeffrey (Cynthia) Brostrom and David (Kate) Brostrom; grandchildren Joshua (Brandi) Brostrom, Briana (Andrew) O'Gorman, Alyssa (Tyler) Emmett, Tyler Brostrom (Justin) & Haley Brostrom (Shawn); and six great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and community at Brookdale for their wonderful care and meaningful friendships. They also extend their deepest thanks to Eden Home Health & Hospice Services for their compassionate care and unwavering support during his final days.

At Dick's request, no services will be held.
