Settling into new commissioner role
Dan Clemts | Valley Press-Mineral Independent | UPDATED 1 month, 1 week AGO
I've been the new Mineral County Central District commissioner for just about a month now. I've been reading emails and meeting minutes from the last couple of years to get up to speed.
I've had meetings with Sheriff-elect Ben Banks, our county attorney and others to tap into the pulse of our county. I've learned a lot of acronyms RFB, TIF, PAR, SRS and many more.
I was selected as the Republican candidate for the November election by the Mineral County Republican Central Committee on Aug. 12 and started working on my campaign the next day.
Registering with the IRS, the Commissioner of Political Practices, getting a bank account, ordering signs and other campaign items.
I have regular office hours on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m., I wanted to have them late in the day to make it easier for people to come and see me. If you have something to discuss and can't make those hours, reach out and we will find a time. My email is [email protected].
Commissioners are responsible to their constituents and need to be available, I plan to be. I plan to attend as many county board meetings as possible to interact with the people who volunteer to make things work. You would be surprised how many there are, that's a good sign of a healthy community.
I am committed to making Mineral County a better place, I believe my actions show that. If you want to know more about me, I'm on Facebook or email or stop by. Looking forward to meeting you.
