Shannon David Stringer, 72

Shannon David Stringer, 72, went to be with his Lord on July 14, 2026.

Shannon was born July 21, 1953, in Cut Bank, Montana to Clifford and Kathleen Higgins Stringer. As a youth, he grew up on the Bird/Higgins Ranch with his family on Cut Bank Creek on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, of which he was a tribal member.

He later moved to West Glacier and went to high school in Columbia Falls. He went to work at CFAC until it shut down in 2009. Resources led him to Flathead Valley Community College, where he earned an associate's degree in Forest Management and was employed by the DNRC for five years as a wildland firefighter.

In the winter, he was employed by Whitefish Mountain Resort as a lift operator on top of Chair 7 for 13 years. He was a FIFA referee for almost 40 years, a soccer player, and a soccer coach. He loved packing in with the horses to the Great Bear Wilderness with his father-in-law, Bill Rocksund, to fishing and hunting camp.

Shannon leaves behind his beloved wife, Carrie, of 45 years and son, Talen. Shannon also welcomed Jeremiah and Kristen from a previous marriage. He also leaves behind his siblings, Vincent Stringer and Mary Locascio, four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shannon will be remembered for his big smile and sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 18 at St. Richard Catholic Church in Columbia Falls.
