On Friday night, teams across the valley faced strong opponents, but they're finding their rhythm and bringing home more wins as the season kicks off.
In 8-Man football, the Arlee Warriors had a hard battle, losing 12-66 to the Darby Tigers; the St. Ignatius Bulldogs fought for a statement road victory, winning 52-6 over the Plains Horsemen; and the Charlo Vikings had a tough road game, losing 0-62 to the Superior Bobcats.
In Class A, Ronan Chiefs took a home-game triumph, winning 28-6 against the Browning Indians; Polson Pirates suffered a tough defeat, 29-14, against the Lockwood Lions.

St. Ignatius Bulldogs: 1-1

County Commissioners approve $52 million annual budget
The Lake County Commissioners approved the county’s $52 million budget for the 2027 fiscal year on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Department of Revenue receives over 1,000 property assessment protests, resulting in over $400,000 refunds
Over 1,000 informal reviews, also known as property assessment value protests, were filed with the Montana Department of Revenue, resulting in Lake County refunding $446,000 this year from collected 2025 property taxes.
