Daily Inter Lake | Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 1 hour, 49 minutes AGO
Max Milton followed up a Wednesday 66 with another four-under-par round Thursday to take medalist honors for the boys at the Kalispell Invite at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.
Milton was matched on the day by Helena Captial’s John Gilbert, but Gilbert’s opening round 73 meant he could only take second. Milton won by seven shots.
Helena’s Austin Kaufman and Gallatin’s Sam Alke were tied for third one shot behind Gilbert.
Glacier’s Torren Murray brought home seventh place with a final round of 74. The Wolfpack placed third in the team standings behind Capital and Polson; the Bruins shot 297 Thursday to overtake the Pirates, who led by one stroke coming in.
Flathead’s boys finished 12th.
Easton Coopman led the Braves with a total of 168.
The Flathead girls brought home a fourth-place finish thanks in part to Becky Schmidt’s final-round 94 to finish 12th.
Hamilton’s Cameron Burnett slowed slightly from her opening round of 74 to shoot 81 on day two but still claimed medalist honors for the Broncs. Whitefish’s Karlee Brown was lowest on the day with a 78 to rally up to second, four shots behind Burnett.
Maggie Mitton led the Wolfpack girls with a 171 total and a second day score of 89. The Wolfpack finished seventh as a team.
