No one was injured when a small plane attempted to land at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes Wednesday night.

MOSES LAKE — No injuries were reported when a small plane attempted to land at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes early Wednesday evening.
Ty Svancara, 24, Moses Lake, was the only occupant of the Piper PA-18-150, and was not injured, said Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
"He was trying to land on an island," Foreman said. In the process one of the plane's tires hit a sand dune, which caused the plane to tip forward and bury its nose in the sand.
The plane did not catch fire. Sheriff's deputies and Grant County Fire District 5 personnel responded to the scene.
