Seattle man booked on vehicular homicide charges

EPHRATA — A Seattle man was booked into the Grant County Jail Thursday on two counts of vehicular homicide in connection with a head-on collision Aug. 8 near George, where he was allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 90.
Brayan Reyes Alvarez, 24, was booked Sept. 10 for two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence or driving recklessly, according to records from the Grant County Jail. He is being held on $1.02 million bail.
Reyes Alvarez is being charged in connection with the deaths of two women who were riding with him when he was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-90 about seven miles west of George. A Washington State Patrol press release said Reyes Alvarez was under the influence of intoxicants. The collision occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8, the WSP memo said.
Neither Reyes Alvarez nor his passengers were wearing seatbelts, the WSP memo said.
Reyes Alvarez was injured and taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. The driver and passenger in the car he hit were treated at the scene.
