Richard Michael (Rick) Walker 

1941-2026

Richard Michael Walker, age 85, of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on September 2, 2026, after fighting a courageous battle with congestive heart failure for nine years. 

Born on February 2, 1941, in Spokane, Wash., he was the son of the late Bernard and Maude Walker. Rick grew up in the Benewah Valley in Saint Maries, Idaho, attending Benewah Valley School, then going to Saint Maries High School. 

A true woodsman at heart, Rick spent over 40 years working in the timber industry. He started as a loader/crane operator for his father’s logging company in Benewah Valley, Idaho. He also worked for Diamond International, Rick Pettit Logging, and then started his own business, Walker Logging, in Metaline Falls, Wash. 

He enjoyed being in the forest, waking up before dawn, driving miles to the top of the mountain to start his workday, listening to the roar of the chainsaw and breathing in the scent of the fresh-cut cedar and pine. He worked with Columbia Heli-Logging to lift the logs out of the steep, inaccessible areas of the forest to bring them back to the landing for him to load on the logging trucks. 

Beyond his life in the woods, Rick was a deeply devoted father, grandfather and dear friend. He taught his children the value of a hard day’s work, the art of telling a good story, and how to navigate life with resilience. When he wasn’t at work, he could be found boating on the river, traveling, enjoying gatherings with family and friends and watching football and NASCAR. 

Rick met the love of his life, his partner, Sharon Howe, in 1984. They made their home in Oldtown, Idaho, before moving to Metaline Falls, Wash., where they purchased The Circle Motel and RV Park. They bought vacation property in Golden Valley, Ariz., then after many years of hard work; they retired in 2017, sold the motel, and relocated to Bullhead City, Ariz. 

He is survived by his three children, Diana Gladis (Dennis), Michael Walker (Tammy) and Laurie Endicott (Percy); his four grandchildren, Brittany and Beau Blades, Savannah Jones (Hank) and Shawn Walker (Shelby); and his four great-grandchildren, Gracie and Tucker Jones, Sophie and Sawyer Walker. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved partner, Sharon and her son Gary Howe. 

Sharon’s surviving daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all considered a special "bonus family:" Brenda Konkright (Dan); three grandchildren, Resa Konkright, Jaron Konkright (Johnna) and Bryce Howe; four great-grandchildren, Noah Seal, Cohen and Kyren Konkright and Addison Howe.

At Rick’s request, no memorial service will be held. Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association. 

“Dad, we miss you more than words can say.” “You will live in our hearts forever, until we meet again.”
