VOLLEYBALL SEASON STARTS THURSDAY
The Sandpoint High School volleyball team opens its 1976 season Thursday with a road game at Post Falls. SHS coach Pat Smith has selected five of her starters for the game, but is still undecided about the sixth spot. Seniors Pam Bradetich and Barb McHenry, the only two returning starters, will both start along with Kim Barfuss, Kathy McCanlies and Lorrie Dockins. The final spot is a tossup among four players: Becky Marienau, Jacki Stern, Stacey Allen and Patti Bennett. All are capable of the job and Smith is pleased with the depth of her lineup.

NEW LACLEDE FERRY IN SERVICE SOON
The old Laclede ferry, which has been in service for 20 years and which sinks an average of once a year, will be replaced this week by a new ferry built for the county by James Eaton at Garfield bay. The new ferry is built on a float of big cedar logs secured from the Johnson creek area along the new Bonneville line and floated down the Clark Fork river. The new ferry is 20’ long, six feet longer than the old one, and will carry about 12 tons, sufficient to handle passenger cars and farm trucks, but not logging trucks and big commercial vehicles. The new ferry is being towed on the lake from Garfield bay, then on the river to Laclede. The ferry will be out of service for three days during the changeover.
