Libby foresters meeting will feature mountain lion presentation

The Libby Chapter of the Society of American Foresters will feature a presentation on mountain lions during their regular meeting Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Riverbend Restaurant, Highway 37 North, Libby. 

There will be a brief social from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., then order off the menu at 6 p.m. and the presentation at 6:30 p.m.

Ashley Hodge, a wildlife biologist with the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, will present an overview of general mountain lion biology and an update on her field research in the Libby area which integrates with 25 years of previous mountain lion research.

A native of Virginia, Hodge has broad experience beginning as a wildlife technician in South Africa studying black-backed jackals, later studying carnivores in Colorado and Utah, followed by a position as a mountain lion biologist for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Hodge is currently the mountain lion monitoring biologist with Montana FWP.
