PREP ROUNDUP: Wallace topples Lakeside in league opener

VOLLEYBALL

PLUMMER — Senior Khepri Wood had eight kills, seven aces and three blocks for the visiting Wallace Miners in a 25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23 win over the Lakeside Knights in a Scenic Idaho Conference match at Ron Miller Court on Monday.

Senior Kayden Stutzke had 23 assists, freshman Danica Valley four aces for Wallace (3-5), which travels to Clark Fork tonight.

Lakeside (2-7) faces Coeur du Christ at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d'Alene tonight.

SANDPOINT — Taking on the 5A power Bulldogs for the second time this season, the 4A and reigning state champion Panthers were tied at 1-1 at halftime before falling for the second time, this time at War Memorial Field.

Coeur d’Alene Charter (6-2) is scheduled to play Sugar-Salem on Friday at the HUB Sports Center in Liberty Lake.

Sandpoint, which beat Charter 3-1 two weeks ago, is 6-2.

MOSCOW — Dawson Cushman won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Andrew Davis captured the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke for Coeur d’Alene at the season-opening Icebreaker meet Saturday at the University of Idaho Pool. 

Cushman and Davis also swam on one winning relay each for the Vikings, who won the boys and girls team titles. 

John Misner of Post Falls and Tillie Sobek of Lake City also each won two individual races.
