Ann Howser, 82, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Sept. 1, 2026, after a brief hospital stay.
Born Margaret Ann Morgan in Rigby, ID, in June 1944, to parents Margaret (Mobley) and Wayne, she was the oldest of six children. As an adolescent, Ann moved with her family to Hot Springs when her parents bought the local bee business. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1962 and married Lucky Howser the same year.
After the birth of her first daughter, Ann worked at the local hospital as a Candy Striper, where she found lasting friendship and showed a natural talent for practical first aid and caring for the sick. She transitioned to co-owner of the farming ranch she and Lucky built together over time and with careful planning, which they operated (as every rancher knows) from one lean year to the next. But they held on till retirement after 50 years in the business.
Ann was known for expertly putting together a hearty ranch meal, for baking big batches of bread, and for having a good head for business. She looked after loved ones, from younger siblings and their growing families, to her beloved Reno grandkids who she "couldn't get enough of!" She got every job done, no matter the physical toll, and she loved working with cattle (especially checking cows with the 4-wheeler), painting, and gardening. Ann will be sorely missed, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
She is survived by Lucky—her loving husband of 64 years, her daughters, Tammy (Chris) Cherullo, of Seeley Lake, and Paula (Nathan) Robison, of Reno, NV; brother, Kenneth Morgan, of Pomeroy, WA; sister, Becky (Keith) Steinbach, of Plains; grandkids, Rosemary, Ethan and Elsa; several nieces and nephews; as well as her uncles, Jim Morgan and Morris Morgan; and aunts, Judy Jepson and Levina Cavendish.
There will be an informal celebration of life for family and friends at the Hot Springs Senior Center on September 26 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
