SANDPOINT — Bonner General Health has received 5-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for both hospital cleanliness and nurse communication, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to providing a positive, safe, and patient-centered experience.

The ratings are based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, a national, standardized survey that gathers feedback from patients about their recent hospital experiences. Nurse communication ratings reflect how well patients felt nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully, and treated them with courtesy and respect.

“We’re incredibly proud of our team for earning 5-star ratings in these important areas,” said John Hennessy, BGH chief executive officer. “These ratings reflect the dedication of employees throughout our hospital, from our nurses who provide compassionate, attentive care to our Environmental Services team, whose hard work helps ensure a clean, comfortable environment for every patient.”

“Bonner General Health would like to thank our extraordinary nurses and entire care team for the compassion, communication, and respect they bring to every patient interaction. The hospital remains committed to listening to patient feedback and continually improving the healthcare experience for the communities it serves,” said John Hennessy, CEO.

According to recently released CMS data, 15 fewer hospitals received a 5-star cleanliness rating in August compared with May, making the achievement a notable reflection of the work happening behind the scenes at Bonner General Health.

“Our Environmental Services team may work behind the scenes, but their impact is felt throughout our hospital,” said John Hennessy, CEO. “We’re grateful for the pride they take in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.”

Bonner General Health is a critical access hospital serving Sandpoint and the surrounding communities in North Idaho. The organization provides hospital care as well as primary and specialty services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, behavioral health, women’s health, urology, ophthalmology, and other healthcare services close to home.
