Four Whitefish students are National Merit Scholar semifinalists

Four Whitefish students have been selected as semifinalists for the prestigious 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.   

The students are Teagan Chisholm, Logan Covey, Luke Ross and William Stenstrom.  

Over 1.2 million juniors from about 20,000 high schools across the nation entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.  

The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s number of graduating seniors. Of about 16,000 students selected as semifinalists from across the nation, 48 are from Montana.   

The students now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $24 million.
