THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks are starting to make some beautiful net music together.

Hitting all the right notes at all the right times, the steadily improving Lady Hawks spiked visiting Mission 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 in District 7B volleyball action in Thompson Falls Friday.

On the road this week, coach Sandra Kazmierczak and her Lady Hawks play Stillwater Christian in Kalispell Tuesday and at Sanders County rival Plains in another 7B match Friday.

A young team growing more accustomed to playing with each other every day, the Hawks enjoyed a virtuoso performance in the surprisingly easy win over Mission last week.

“We played like we very comfortable with each other, were having fun,” Kazmierczak said. "I like to think we are finding our rhythm, figuring out what our strengths and weaknesses are and are adjusting to that as we go.”

A large hopped-up crowd, fueled by the Thompson Falls junior high players who showed up en masse Friday, also helped the Hawks get their volleyball motors going.

Led by the amazing Addy Deal, their senior team leader who was flying all over the TFHS gym making plays, including at one point clear over the folding chairs on the Hawk sidelines with an impromptu athletic leap, the Thompson Falls girls beat the Lady Bulldogs to the punch at the net time after time.

Deal crushed 14 kills, stuff blocked two Mission kill attempts, was 14 of 14 on digs and hit an ace to lead the Hawk attack, and first-year senior Aubrey Baxter, who doesn’t look like a rookie anymore as one observer quipped, was also effective at the net at clobbering time, flooring eight kills, a block and an ace, besides bumping up five digs.

Seemingly wise beyond her sophomore year, Audrey Fairbank capably directed the offensive flow for the Hawks, passing out 22 set assists while adding a service ace and six digs.

Another experienced sophomore Marley Robinson was effective from the service line, converting 22 of 24 points and added six digs, Makarlie Stein was 10 of 10 on serves and hit seven digs, Shea Haas had two kills and an ace, and Cammie Preston was five for five serving with an ace and three digs.
