Traffic continues to be rerouted through downtown Lakeside as the Lakeside County Water and Sewer District replaces sections of a sewer line to increase capacity and meet the needs of development in area.

All construction projects are expected to wrap up in November, with work typically taking place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 

The northbound lane of Blacktail Road will be closed for sewer replacement work through Sept. 19, according to project updates from Robert Peccia and Associates, the engineering company managing the infrastructure upgrades.  

The southbound lane of Blacktail Road, starting at the Stoner Creek Bridge, will become a one-way road and will be detoured to Stoner Creek Road.  

Through Sept. 19, the southbound lane of U.S. 93 between Adams Street and Stoner Loop will be closed at four intermittent locations in 60-foot segments. Traffic will be shifted into the turn lane, and the turn lane will be used only for southbound traffic at these locations.  

Work at the intersection of Bierney Creek Road and U.S. 93 has wrapped up, a closure that required a detour via Adams Street. Sewer replacement work that required the closure of Stoner Creek Road has been completed. 

Access to downtown businesses will continue to be maintained as construction continues through the fall.  

The construction project is being financed by Discovery Land Company, the luxury developer behind Territory 1889 that will bring more than 350 homes to a development south of Lakeside.
