Presentation explores historical mystery of Glacier National Park trail

Scott Tanner will expose a Glacier National Park trail mystery during a talk on Sept. 21 at a meeting of the Northwest Montana Westerners. 

Giving only hints in advance, he promises to explain where the trail was located, when it was blazed, and what became of it. Included in the story is the role of a prominent hill, a lie about mountain goats, and the connection with the Great Northern Railway.

Tanner is a retired safety inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. He took an interest in the Great Northern and Glacier Park and has been sharing stories he learned in his research. He recently collaborated with Ray Djuff and Bill Lundgren to write a book about Glacier Park, titled "A Glacier Gallery: True Tales and Hidden History."

The event is at 7 p.m. at the Northwest Montana History Museum in Kalispell. General admission is $5, with members and youths admitted free.
