The Whitefish High School soccer teams earned two more victories on the road last week.  

They traveled to Browning on Thursday where the boys won 10-0 and the girls, 11-0, invoking the goal difference rule. They met Thompson Falls-Plains on Saturday and where the boys won 7-2 and the girls 5-0. 

Graysen Rembaugh and freshman Roan Chisholm tallied four goals each against Browning. Tristan Irwin and Jenkins scored the other two. All but one of the Bulldog goals came in the first half.  

Seven Lady Dogs were goal scorers in Browning while five players contributed assists. Sage Ordway scored three times and supplied three assists, and Atley Bingham added two goals and two assists. 

In the first half at Thompson Falls, the Blue Hawks scored first, but Bulldogs Martin Christiansen scored a hat trick within minutes, and Graysen Rembaugh got a goal to answer.  

“Thompson Falls was organized, energetic and started off the game very well,” Coach Eric Sawtelle said. “A very slow start for our boys this evening. After giving up a goal, the boys woke up and realized their effort was not good enough. Everyone responded and the end of the first half was much better.” 

Thompson Falls scored first in the second half, as well, but couldn’t rack more up as Whitefish’s Brown and Isles each scored, and Rembaugh added another. Seven individuals contributed assists in the effort. 

We learned some important lessons tonight. We know we need to bring energy and a much sharper mentality if we are going to have success moving forward,” Sawtelle said. “We have a big week ahead and we expect the boys to be sharp and focused in training leading up to two difficult games against Bigfork and Columbia Falls.”  

The Whitefish girls posted their fifth shutout of the season at Thompson Falls. 

“We played a great possession game creating potent scoring opportunities against an overloaded defense,” Coach Kelly Ordway said. “Atley Bingham, Adelle Flynn and Neva Sliman connected well in midfield while Jenna Kimble has been consistently potent in the attack.” 

Sliman scored a brace and had an assist in the Whitefish girls shutout. Sage Ordway had a goal and an assist. Other goal scorers were Adelle Flynn and Bingham. 

“Delila Vine and Barrett Clark held central defense tight against Thompson Falls, who drop deep into defense with big numbers and also counterattacks with enthusiasm and numbers,” Ordway said. “Grace Sliman and Ayla Mosher continue strong distribution out of the back with support into the attack and Ordway was tenacious up top.”  

The Lady Dogs had 44 shots on goal in the match, two corner kicks and amassed three fouls. 

Whitefish plays at Bigfork on Thursday and plays Columbia Falls at Smith Fields on Saturday. The home game sees the girls play at 11 a.m. and the boys at 1 p.m.
