A Missoula man is accused of groping a 10-year-old girl while on a boat ride. Dale Alden Erickson, 46, entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court Sept. 9 to felony sexual assault.

According to court records, on July 20, authorities in Lake County received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on Flathead Lake. The mother of the alleged victim indicated that her daughter and several others were in a boat July 19 when the incident occurred.

The daughter was interviewed by forensic investigators. She indicated that Erickson allowed her to drive the boat and that is when he allegedly touched her private area and caused her pain. She says Erickson told her it was “old fashioned” to touch her in such a way.

The girl was brought see a doctor who observed an “irritation” on the girl.

Judge Molly Owen set the case for trial on March 1. Erickson remains at liberty after posting $50,000 surety bond.
