Polson Seniors: First day of fall arrives Sept. 22
Pete Mangels | Lake County Leader | UPDATED 51 minutes AGO
Welcome to the official first day of Fall on Sept. 22. Take advantage of the equal number of daylight hours and nighttime hours. It only happens twice a year.
Maybe this year we will rid ourselves of the artificial clock-changing concepts of “daylight” savings time and standard time. Maybe we could agree that daylight savings time will be every day of the year.
Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5 donation; $10 without a completed MASTS form). Milk is available with all meals; delivery service is available for those who meet our guidelines.
The menu (subject to substitutions) includes sweet and sour chicken, Sept. 17; sausage with biscuits and gravy, Sept. 18; chicken noodle soup, Sept. 21; hamburger steak and gravy with mashed potatoes, Sept. 22; chicken salad, Sept. 23; chili dogs, Sept. 24; and birthday dinner for lunch, with traditional roast beef dinner with all the fixings, plus cake, Sept. 25. Expect door prizes, announcements of anniversaries and birthdays of those present, as well as informational/educational presentations and special guest speakers.
Wednesdays have been reserved for Game Day! Invite friends for a variety of board and card games.
Other activities include bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and card bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Monday, no pass, and Thursdays, pass four (new and old players welcome); pool table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; mahjong and bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); and exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the veterans service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month (walk-ins welcome).
Our Polson Senior Citizens community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings. We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.
