Bell brace lifts Wildcats; Johnston knocks in 4 for Wildkats

LIBBY — Brady Bell had a brace in the first half, Talon Bates turned away all seven shots he faced and Columbia Falls held off Libby 2-0 for a Northern A boys soccer victory Thursday.
Wren Miller and Nolan Kavanaugh had the helpers on Bell’s goals.
“Libby gave us a run for our money tonight,” Wildcats coach O’Brien Bird said. “This was yet another great est for our young team that boasted four freshman players. Eli Crockett and Logan Ruggiero both had stellar performances at center back, and Talon Bates recorded the third shutout of the season.”

BIGFORK — Freshman Roen Chisholm scored in the 54th minute, and the Whitefish boys made that goal stand up for a Northern A win.,
Graysen Rembaugh had the helper for the Bulldogs, who outshot Bigfork 15-5 but had a hard time breaking through on Bigfork keeper Mason Davey.
Ben Nelson, meanwhile, turned away all four shots he faced for Whitefish.

BIGFORK — Neva Sliman’s hat trick helped Whitefish rally from an early 1-0 deficit for a hard-fought win in Northern A girls soccer.
The host Valkyries jumped ahead in the second minute on a goal from Sofie Albierto.
“This game was a physical battle,” Whitefish coach Kelly Ordway said. “Delila Vine and Barrett Clark led the defense with poise and tenacity. Adelle Flynn helped control distribution at midfield and senior captain Anna Boyseun showcased her speed on the wing.”
Sliman scored the equalizer in the 14th minute on a cross from Atley Bingham. She scored in the 31st and 32nd minutes with helpers from Jenna Kimble and Boysen.
After Gwenna Lustig knocked in a free kick for Bigfork, Sage Ordway answered a minute later for the Bulldogs to complete the scoring.

LIBBY — June Johnston had a hat trick by the 13th minute and ended up with four goals for Columbia Falls.
Riley Byrd, Evie Door and Onnika Lawrence also found the net, along with Piper Holm and Mikaela Markle (twice in the second half).
“It was a point of emphasis today to start fast and play a complete game, the girls really executed at a high level on the field today,” Columbia Falls coach Thomas Clark said. “Piper Holm is a player that puts in a lot of work week in and week out, and I was really excited to see her get a goal.”
