Dolores Keiffer

Dolores Keiffer passed away at her beloved home on Bull Lake on Sept. 10, 2026. She was 88.
Dolores was born on May 11, 1938, in Toledo, Oregon. She was the second eldest of nine children born to Joe and Gladys (Krake) Chaney. She was fondly known to her family and close friends as "Sis."
When Dolores was 4 years old, the family moved to Newport, Washington, to live closer to extended family. In Newport, Sis met her lifelong best friend, Maxine Pitts.
Dolores attended school in Newport, Washington, and graduated in 1956. Shortly after, she moved to Libby, Montana, where she met Fred Keiffer. They married in 1957 and built one of the first houses in the new Rawlings Tracts area of Libby, where they raised their four children. During the summers, the family was often at Bull Lake, where Dolores and Fred later retired.
She worked as an eligibility technician at the Lincoln County Human Services office for many years and started EJ's Pizza in Libby. Dolores and Fred were avid square and round dancers for more than 60 years.
She was also an active singer for many years with Sweet Adelines. Dolores was involved in the Troy Christian Fellowship for many years and often shared her baked goods and casseroles with others.
Dolores was known to many for her quilting and knitting and never missed an opportunity to make a quilt or knit baby hats and socks. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and cherished every family gathering, large and small, at Bull Lake.
Dolores is survived by her sons, Tom, Joe (Kathy) and Richard (Kathy) Keiffer; her daughter, Teresa Carson (Steve); her brothers, Ed and Mark Chaney; her sister, Ferol Cundiff; six grandchildren; and her BFF, Maxine Pitts.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, George, Bill, Stuart and Paul; and her sister, Helen.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Troy Christian Fellowship. All are welcome to attend.
