PREP SOCCER: Grimmett guides Vikings past Lewiston

LEWISTON — Senior Izzy Grimmett scored twice in the final 14 minutes of the match for Coeur d’Alene in a 3-0 win over Lewiston in a nonleague match at the P1FCU Sports Complex at Lewiston High on Thursday.

“Izzy is really good on the ball and finds herself in the right spots,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “She’s been coming in clutch when we’ve needed her lately.” 

Freshman Maddie Olivier had two saves in the shutout for Coeur d’Alene (4-4), which hosts Lake City on Saturday at Viking Field. 

“We dominated the physical play and created a lot of chances,” Vredenburg said. “Overall, it was just a really good day. We looked good.” 

Lewiston (1-7-2) hosts Post Falls in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Saturday.

Senior Aurora Lippard had one goal and junior Paisley Fenton two assists for Timberlake (8-1-1, 8-0-1 IML), which hosts Sugar-Salem on Saturday. 

Kellogg (2-9, 2-9) travels to Priest River on Tuesday.

ST. MARIES — Senior Trace Chatigny scored in the 26th minute to pull the Lumberjacks within 3-1, but the visiting Badgers scored just before the half, then pulled away after intermission in the Intermountain League game at City Park. 

James Cederquist scored twice in the second half for Bonners Ferry (5-2-1, 5-1-0 IML).
