Whitefish sweeps Libby volleyball in straight sets

Libby’s volleyball team ran into a strong Whitefish squad, falling in straight sets as the Bulldogs earned a 3-0 victory on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Whitefish controlled the match from the opening set, winning 25-9 before taking the second set 25-14. Libby showed improvement as the night progressed, but the Bulldogs closed out the sweep with a 25-15 victory in the third.

Senior Rylee Delmas led the Libby attack with five kills. Fellow senior Leah Rusdal added four kills, while junior Alyssa Andersen finished with three kills.

Libby found some of its best success at the net defensively, particularly from senior Maddie Willis. Willis recorded four solo blocks and added a block assist. Andersen finished with two solo blocks, while Delmas had a solo block and a block assist.

The Loggers also generated four service aces. Willis led the way with two, Charlotte Sherbo was perfect from the service line on nine attempts.

Junior Weslee MacDonald paced Libby’s back-row defense with nine digs. Andersen added seven, while Delmas and senior Tessa Purdy each finished with five.

Sherbo directed much of the Libby offense and finished with a team-high nine assists. Delmas added four assists.

Saturday, Sept. 12 at Stevensville, the Loggers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Yellowjackets. Andersen had three kills. 

Libby hosts Polson Friday and Bigfork Saturday.
