Neal Jones, 81

Neal was born in November 1944 to George and Mary Jones. He was their third child and their “change-of-life” baby, joining the family after his older brothers were nearly grown. He grew up helping his father in his gas station and full-service garage in Reardan, Wash. He also helped his mom in her large garden at home. He especially enjoyed tending to the family goats and goats remained a favorite of his all his life. Neal was an excellent student and graduated as valedictorian of his high school class in 1963.

Neal married the love of his life, Sharon Weyen, in 1966. They set up their first home in Reardan, Wash., later moving to Spokane, Wash., and then to Hayden, Idaho, where they raised their children. He was a devoted husband and stood faithfully by Sharon through her health challenges over their 59 years of marriage until her passing. Neal adored their two children, Elliot and Julie, and always found time for them even after a long day at work. One of the many ways he showed his love was by saying bedtime prayers with them and singing a song he made up.

His mother taught him Bible truths from an early age, and he remained active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 80 years. He chose to symbolize his dedication to Jehovah God by being baptized Jan. 8, 1955. At just 9 years old, he began giving public talks at assemblies and loved sharing the Bible with others. He selflessly served as an elder in the congregation for decades. Though his physical energy weakened in later years, his spiritual zeal remained strong.

He is survived by his son, Elliot, and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Julie; sister-in-law, Linda, and her sons, Ryan and Shane, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. His loved ones hold tightly to the promised resurrection when they will be reunited with him in Paradise — Isaiah 65:17, 21.
