Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 minutes AGO
RENO, Nev. — Joy Archuletta, a freshman from Post Falls and freshman Zoe Galbreath of Ritzville had five kills each for North Idaho College in a 25-12, 25-15, 25-23 win over Truckee Meadows Community College in the Scenic West Athletic Conference opener for both on Friday.
Freshman Kristina Peras, freshman Madi Ruport and sophomore Eileen Schmidt had four digs each for NIC (15-4). Taylin Everingham, a freshman from Coeur d’Alene, had eight aces for the Cardinals.
“Our bench really stepped up tonight,” NIC coach Drew Pascua said. “We have a few injuries, so we had to make adjustments and we never skipped a beat in sets 1 and 2. We had another injury toward the end of set 2, which really caused a rift in our set 3 lineup and it caused some communication breakdowns that kept the game close. But we made the right plays at the right time.”
Truckee Meadows, in its first season in the SWAC, is 2-3.
The teams meet again today in Reno.
