LIBERTY LAKE — The Sugar-Salem Diggers of Sugar City scored the tying goal in the 75th minute to play to a 2-2 draw with the Coeur d'Alene Charter Panthers at the HUB Sports Center on Friday.

“This was a game we gave away, twice,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “We had the lead twice and gave them two goals. Until we can put 80 full minutes together, we’re still underperforming.”

Jesper Giaever had a goal and assist for reigning 4A state champion Coeur d’Alene Charter (6-2-1), which travels to St. Maries today.

“Jesper had a great offensive game tonight,” Daigle said. “He and Elliot Engles connected numerous times in the first half and a stunning free kick in the second.”

Sugar-Salem (6-1-2) travels to Timberlake today.

Lake City at ThunderBee tourney

IDAHO FALLS — At Thunder Ridge High, Lake City went 2-1 on the first day of the ThunderBee tournament, beating Melba 25-19, 25-16 and Twin Falls 25-15, 25-17, and losing to Hillcrest of Ammon 25-15, 16-25, 25-7.

Camryn Woodman had 25 kills, 17 digs and seven aces on the day for Lake City (11-4). Lexie Burns had 13 kills and nine digs, Kate Moglia 46 assists, 16 digs, two kills and two aces, Sonia-Rei Fong 41 digs.

“We did some good things today and look forward to more strong competition tomorrow,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “Fatigue caught up to us against Hillcrest but it was good to be tested against such a scrappy defense. Swings that are usually terminal from our offense didn’t score as frequently and we haven’t been tested in that way yet. This is exactly what tournaments are for so I’m appreciative of the opportunity to play teams from this area.”

Another round of pool play is slated for this morning, followed by bracket play.
