Bonnie Knight D'Alessandro, 81

Bonnie Knight D’Alessandro, born June 21, 1945, in Battle Creek, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 81.

Bonnie spent much of her life in California, where she dedicated her career to teaching elementary school children. Teaching was more than a profession for Bonnie — it was a passion and a calling. She loved helping children learn, grow, and discover their talents. Throughout her career, she went beyond the classroom, staging plays and talent shows and creating special experiences for her students.

After retiring from teaching, Bonnie and her husband, Paul D’Alessandro, moved from Sacramento, Calif., to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In 2004, Bonnie, Paul, and their daughter, Cheyenne, became owners of Tony’s on the Lake, a beloved Coeur d’Alene restaurant. They proudly operated the restaurant together for 18 years, creating countless memories for their family, friends and customers.

Bonnie was deeply devoted to her family. She especially cherished traveling and creating memories with her children and grandchildren. She continued her love of education by volunteering at Sorensen Elementary School, where two of her grandchildren attended.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Paul D’Alessandro; her children, Cheyenne D’Alessandro, Primo D’Alessandro and his wife, Kendal, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Gary D’Alessandro and his wife, Eileen, of Fontana, Calif.; her grandchildren, Noah and Micah of Coeur d’Alene, and Brandon Soto, Brittnay Soto and Victor Fuentez of Fontana; and her great-grandchildren, Ayden, Ayries, Noah, Ellijah, Nathaniel, Milah and Luke.

Bonnie will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to children, generous spirit, love of family and travel, and the countless lives she touched through teaching, volunteering and friendship. Her greatest joy was her family, and the memories she created with them will remain her lasting legacy.
